The story written by James Berry is entitled “Becky and the Wheels-and-Brake Boys.” This story is about a little girl named Becky who begs and pleads her mother for a brand new bike, but she does not approve. Character credibility is when a character in the story is acting like a real person would act. I think Becky is a credible character because she begs her mom for what she wants, fights with her friend and gets angry with her, and she asks for someone’s help in learning a new skill. Therefore Becky is a credible character because of how she acts or does, feels, and says.

First of all, Becky is a credible character because she begs and pleads her mom to buy her the bike of her dreams. As Becky pleads, she implies, “Over and over I told my mom I wanted a bike.” She would really, really love one more than anything else, so she pleads to her mom and tries to convince her into getting a beautiful bike. This proves that Becky is a credible character because a lot of kids bother and interrupt their parents’ conversation until they get what they wish for.

Secondly, Becky is a believable character because she got in a fought and got angry with her best friend. As Becky’s day went horrible she experienced a fight, “For the first time, Shirnette and me had a real fight, because of what I hated most.” Becky was infuriated with her best friend, because Shirnette let a cockroach fly down her beautiful blouse. Becky is a very credible character because many friends fight with each other for the first time and on a regular basis.

A third reason for why Becky is just like any other child is because she seeks assist on becoming skilled on a new talent, which is riding a bike. As she stood their watching, she decided to walk up to the boys and ask them a question. “ Can somebody teach me to ride?” Becky doesn’t own a bike because in her neighborhood girls aren’t at all encouraged to ride any bikes. Since she always watches the boys ride all the time, she wants to be a part of the group, so she asks the boys for their assist on her new riding talent. Becky stands up for what she wants just like any other little kid or adult.

In conclusion, Becky’s actions, emotions, and words prove her credibility rate and why she is credible. You might even know someone just like Becky that is really close to you or also lives in your neighborhood. And you never know, and you might not ever believe such a thing but, that one credible character or person might even be you!
